100 Mile Fitness Challenge Update: October 31 - November 6

I started out this week pumped up and motivated to get back on the bandwagon of walking, pledging a goal of 20 miles. I mean, the weather has cooled off, I'm not vacationing (in fact I have a couple of bumps I have to work off from that vacation!)...no excuses.

Well, unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that way. My best friend's aunt left us a few weeks ago after a brave and determined fight against lung cancer, and her memorial service was Tuesday. In addition, my 45 year-old neighbor died suddenly of a heart attack this week, and his funeral is today. I have a hard time rebounding from these events after they are over, so effectively two days of this week were shot for me. There were also some personal and school-related commitments that needed to be kept on the non-funeral days, so my goals fell by the wayside.

Even under the circumstances though, I hit 10 miles, which brings my total miles to 76. If I can hit a goal of 20 next week, it will take me within 4 miles of the 100. Woo hoo! I'm determined to get there!

Don't forget to turn your miles into Trish for this week!

Congrats on all the exercising you've done so far. Wow, I think you'll far surpass the 100 mile goal. On a side/related issue, you have a very nice blog! I checked it out, and really enjoyed seeing what you're reading (we have similar tastes) plus I love your fabulous pictures.

God Sandy - that is awful about your neighbor. And your friend's aunt of course too. Two different ways to leave this life - and I don't want any part of either. My heart goes out to you, your friends and their loved ones.

Catherine - thank you so much for your kind words! I am off to check out your blog!

JoAnn - Honestly, it would probably be good for me to get out and walk off some of this emotional stuff, but my time keeps slipping away. But, next week is another week!

Bumbles - thank you so much! I'm really kinda glad the week is done. Oh! And then this afternoon a guy goes on a shooting rampage A MILE FROM MY KIDS' SCHOOL! Crap, what a week.

Sounds like you've had a challenging time so good for you that you still hit 10 miles!

Hi Sandy - I'm so sorry to hear about your friends aunt and your neighbour. Death is a hard thing to bounce back from and funerals are pretty depressing so I'm really impressed that you managed 10 miles. I have no doubt that you will make the 100! Go Sandy! :)

WOW, Sandy! I'm really impressed! I'm not even close to your total. Talk about meeting a goal! Well, I'm not behind anymore and am working on getting ahead so I can slack a bit during the holidays. I'm really sorry to hear of all the sad events that have taken place. And I'm glad you reminded me to turn in my miles to Trish...I haven't done that yet! OOPS!

You're doing so well, Sandy! I didn't exercise last week (sore from the mountain climbing and then my sports gear were not ready for use).

I'm sorry about your recent losses.

You will totally make it ... I mean you are almost there and you still have lots of time to go. I can totally understand why you didn't want to do it on the funeral days. I'm sure it was just a depressing week all around.

So much loss recently. I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope that you will reach the 100 mile goal, but I know you will.
