Wordless Wednesday - Gdansk #1

This was an upwards shot of the lobby in our hotel in Gdansk, the brand new Raddison Blue. The hotel is a renovated building in the historical downtown area. The staff spoke excellent English, flat screen TV's in each room, free wireless, baths and shower with lots of hot water, and had a huge buffet breakfast included in the price. We weren't roughing it yet, were we?

Sounds like you suffered terribly in Gdansk.

That looks really nice! Much better than most hotels in the UK!

Neat shot (I like the building "caught" between the arches). And yes, you must have suffered horribly ;-)

Isn't Gdansk famous for its shipyards? Looks awfully nice and sounds like a great hotel, too.

Haha! Yes the suffering definitely did not start until we hit the road from Gdansk to Wroclaw. James, you are right. Gdansk is where the seed of Solidarity was planted. The shipyards and Lech. I have a picture of a stunning monument to the fallen shipyard workers coming in the next few weeks!
