When we visited Wroclaw this past summer, there was a historical photographic exhibition in the city center. There were photos taken prior to WWII (which destroyed a large portion of the city), during communism, and of the Solidarity movement. The Poles are quite proud of this moment in history, and is personal to us because of my father-in-law's active participation. (We literally lost my father-in-law inside the maze of pictures, and had to spread out to find him! He was mesmerized!)
I was taken by this particular picture. It says it all.
