When we visited Wroclaw this past summer, there was a historical photographic exhibition in the city center. There were photos taken prior to WWII (which destroyed a large portion of the city), during communism, and of the Solidarity movement. The Poles are quite proud of this moment in history, and is personal to us because of my father-in-law's active participation. (We literally lost my father-in-law inside the maze of pictures, and had to spread out to find him! He was mesmerized!)
I was taken by this particular picture. It says it all.

A picture that speaks a thousand words!
It really does.
Wow, I bet that was fascinating to go to with your father-in-law.
*thought provoking post today*
gosh, I would have loved to have seem that exhibition. Poland has quite the history...
You're right - the picture says it all.
That sounds like a wonderful exhibit!
On a totally different topic, I saw your comments on Swapna's post about Firefly Lane. I listened to it on audio last year and loved it. I think you would enjoy it too!
Wow - that's a powerful picture!
You're right! And I wish I was there in the exhibition.
I love that picture....I would love to go and see this (says the gal who spent 7 hours in the Holocaust Museum in DC).
Wonderful picture. How proud your FIL must have been; how proud your extended family must be of him.
