Who said I was done with challenges? I didn't. I saw this one mentioned by Booking Mama and knew it was one of those that is a slam dunk. So here's the deal:
The challenge is sponsored by Melissa at The Betty and Boo Chronicles. The challenge runs for the calendar year and requires you to read only 4 memoirs. (See link for details.)
The crazy thing is that I've already read two memoirs right at the end of 2009, reviews to be posted later this month, which I would count. Those are:
* What I Talk About When I Talk About Running - Haruki Murakami
* The Liar's Club - Mary Karr
Plus, I am on a waiting list for the audio version of Andre Agasse's "Open" at the library. So I would only have to add one more to qualify, which feels like a done deal. I will most likely pick up another Mary Karr memoir, or perhaps Rick Bragg's "It's All Over But the Shouting".
So who's with me?

I'm almost done with Mary Karr's Lit, but you know, I've never read any of her other ones. You recommend them?
OK, I'm in this one too, I must be nuts, LOL...
Booking Mama got me involved in this challenge too! Have fun with it.
I am so very tempted to do this one as well as I just love memoirs -- but I am afraid that time will get the best of me.
I look forward to reading your review of Agasse's memoir though!
Sometimes you just have to say, what the heck. Michele, yes I would recommend The Liar's Club. The Glass Castle it is not, but is quite entertaining. She has a great voice. Review coming Jan. 28!
I'm so glad you've joined this one. I have OPEN on reserve at the library to. I'm 58th!
You can never sign up for too many challenges! Good luck with this one, Sandy. I really want to read The Liar's Club.
I'm not signing up for this challenge, but I wish you luck anyway!
OH ... I love memoirs. I'll have to see if I have enough on my list to get me through this! I'm dying to see what you think of The Liar's Club!!!!
I don't think I'll go for this one, but I wish you luck and look forward to reading your reviews! Have fun!
I loved the memoir What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. I finished it much earlier and still pending its review.
Thanks for the head's up about this challenge. Usually the challenges seem so daunting, but this one is perfect...and as luck would have it I have four memoirs on my tbr shelf!
I just read The Liar's Club. I think you'll enjoy it.
You will love love love Bragg's memoir! One of the best of the genre. I stumbled across him on some C-SPAN show where he was appearing at an event discussing his book and his family - he is as great a storyteller verbally as he is in writing.
you seem to be taking a similar road like me....signing up for more challenges even though you say you are not going to. I just signed up for another one last night! LOL
Happy reading.
This one is very, very tempting! I love memoirs but haven't read any recently. Maybe this would get me back into them.
