Wordless Wednesday - Marlbork #6

Down in the moat section of the Teutonic Knights Castle, in Malbork, Poland.

Next week, we will move on from Malbork to Wroclaw, my husband's hometown.

Neat (was it creepy, being down in the "moat section"?)!

Wow! I've never been in the moat section of a castle. That castle looks pretty well preserved.

The whole darned thing was spooky, if you ask me. But that just fuels my imagination, and makes me wish I could close my eyes and transport back in time. (Only with my invisibility cloak, however. Those Teutonic Knights were brutal.) The castle was actually devastated in WWII. They are STILL, thanks to communism, trying to refurbish, but are pretty close to being finished. Only one chapel is still under construction.

so, was this area once filled with water? It is a lovely castle. If you want to wander down my road I’m home.
