A blogwarming welcome!

It wasn't long ago that I published my first post on You've GOTTA Read This! I didn't really know what I was doing (still don't actually), I was intimidated, and for the first few months, my only followers were my mom, my sister, and C.B. James.

So when Andreea from Passionate Booklover left me a comment, telling me that she had just started blogging, I thought it would be fun to do a little feature on her, and introduce her to all of the wonderful people that cruise by my place.

Andreea is 23 years old, and married to a wonderful man. They recently moved to NYC from Europe, leaving behind family and their little kitty Mietzi (pictured above), who isn't all that adaptable in her old age and wasn't ready for the trauma of moving overseas. Andreea is a family-oriented person, which made it very hard to her to move here...she misses them all terribly!

While in Europe, Andreea studied Literature of all kinds...American Literature and Culture, and British Literature and Linguistics, as an example. Her studies reflect her passion for reading and learning about authors, writing techniques and languages (she speaks English, German Romanian and French!). Not only does she have a love for literature in the academic world, she also finds it a big part of her entertainment in her personal life. She loves to read and talk about books, wants to share her passion and thoughts with other like minded bibliophiles, and was inspired to start her own blog (sound familiar??). I told her she was in good company!

She finds herself in love with the Victorican Era! Some of her favorite reads include:

* The Bible
* Faust - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
* Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
* Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
* Romeo and Juliet - William Shakespeare
* The Turn of the Screw - Henry James
* Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
* The Enchanted April - Elizabeth von Arnim

Other than reading, Andreea likes to write poetry, travel (living in Europe, she's visited some amazing places like Paris, Barcelona and Cologne), visit old castles, watch classic movies, go for a walk in the park, swim and decorate. She believes in God and likes to read the Bible. She considers herself a traditional, old-fashioned girl with family values. Something that I personally find refreshing in some her age (that makes me sound old!).

But here's the big news in Andreea's life...she is going to have a baby this fall! We probably need to hook her up with Jen @ Devourer of Books for tips on how to care for a baby and read 50 billion books a week!

Let's a give Andreea a warm welcome, and check our her brand new blog!

It is so nice of you to welcome a new blogger like this!

I found it really easy to read lots of books with a tiny baby - all they do is sleep and eat! You just need to get an audio book ready for walking around with them and you're sorted!

I'm off to go and look at her blog.

Oh Sandy you are just so lovely, what a lovely thing for you to do! I am off to visit the new blog now!

Jackie - my babies didn't work with me on that one! They didn't sleep much at night, so during the day I either slept when they slept, or was trying to clean up my messy house! I hadn't discovered audios yet, but that is an excellent idea!

Simon - thank you for supporting her! She is really very sweet!

What a nice gesture, Sandy! But then, you're a very nice person. I will check her out right away!

Hi Sandy, I know I already thanked you for doing this for me, but I have to thank you again. I really appreciate it and it means a lot to me. I am so glad that I stumbled upon your blog a few days ago because you are such a nice person. You didn’t even know me, and still you offered to do this introduction for me. This shows what a wonderful person you are. Thank you so much to all of you. Sandy is right, book bloggers are really warm and welcoming!

just found your blog as I do a tour of "book bloggers" and happy to see your OUTLANDER challenge! I've read them all (even though I foolishly bought one of them in paperback - tiny print, 1,000s of pages!) but so worth it.

will surely rturn to get your perspective on books a well as titles since I am bookstore nut (sometimes use the library, but I'm always going overdue there so the bookstore is cheaper.)

Susan - Thanks Susan! Well, I happen to think I have the nicest followers, like you!

Andreea - you will see that the book blogging community is very welcoming and kind. We're glad to have you on board.

James - Everybody needs a little boost at the beginning, as I well remember! You were pretty instrumental in helping me!

Oh - welcome to my little corner! I'm always glad to see new faces. Stop by anytime, and if you are looking for specific genres or have questions, just pop me an e-mail! That Outlander series is incredible, but looooong! I have two more audios to go!

What a nice idea...to introduce a new blogger. The thing I have enjoyed so much about book blogging is feeling like I am part of a community of readers!

Kathleen - I truly believe we have the nicest blogging community of all. Not that I am biased or anything.

Thanks for the introduction, Sandy! I'll join the others who've left a note here, and pop over to Passionate Booklover to wish Andreea a very warm welcome!

A baby on the way; how exciting for her and her husband! I read while babies were nursing, and INSTEAD of cleaning house when they were sleeping :) An audio book is a great idea.

This was a great feature. I had already discovered Andreea's new blog and was impressed by the lovely pictures she posts and her obvious love of the classics (which I am partial to myself). It was nice to learn more about her though. I am off to congratulate her now.
