Not So Wordless Wednesday: Chicago #2

For anyone who has read "Devil in the White City", you are very familiar with the fact that the Ferris Wheel was invented for and debuted at the 1893 World Fair in Chicago.  As a testament to that fact, there is a huge 260-foot Ferris Wheel at the Navy Pier that you can ride.  It is the perfect way to see the skyline of the Windy City.  Just don't look down.

Yeah, you couldn't get me on that for anything in the world.

Unlike Kathy, I'd love to be at the top of that. And even better if stopped for a minute or two so I could take photos.

Love the 2nd picture, but I can't tell - is it from underneath?

I couldn't tell you the last time I rode a ferris wheel!

I stood in line for that wheel and then totally chickened out at the last minute! I don't like heights but I don't like gondolas that sway in all that Chicago wind.

I'm not a big fan of ferris wheels. :) The last time I was on one (my son begged me) we stopped at the top and he spent a horrid amount of time telling me how high we were and "wouldn't it be awful if we fell" on this, that and the other thing he spied below.

I've been to the Navy Pier, but I've never riden a ferris wheel there. I'm going to have to do that soon!

Oh, Navy Pier -- so fun! I remember seeing this Ferris wheel when I was in Chicago back in college, but I don't think I rode. I'm pretty afraid of heights... though the London Eye has a good system: you're actually in a moving room, not a seat! Felt much more in control!

someday, I will tell about my one experience on a ferris wheel...

but a very nice pic.

Chicago is on the someday list...even though I am not a fan of wind! Especially if I'm going to be on a Ferris Wheel.

I love Navy Pier! I hated Ferris Wheels as a kid. Those swinging cars where your feet dangled out....scared the crap out of me. I can do the fully enclosed cars though. :)
