Wordless Wednesday

This is one of my favorite lighthouses in St. Marks, Florida. The lighthouse is located in a nature preserve, so in addition to a beautiful setting oceanside, it also is surrounded by birdlife, trees, inland waterways, and other wildlife. Unfortunately, they only open the lighthouse up to the public one day a year (National Lighthouse Day). We may have to make the long haul up there for this event some day!

I love lighthouses. I used to get a calendar every year of lighthouses, but now I always try to get one with cat and dog photos. :-)

I'd love to visit a lighthouse one day!! I hope you've more lighthouse pics to share with us for Wordless Wednesday? ;)

Wendy - lighthouses are a fairly new hobby for our family. Living in Florida gives us good access to many of them. But we have the lighthouse books and calendars too, and would love to see some of the ones in Scandinavia!

Melody - I do have some good pictures, unfortunately my computer crashed a couple of weeks ago. Along with it went all of my pictures, my e-mails and iPod files. I am hoping everything will be eventually salvaged, but in the meantime, I can only post pictures that haven't been deleted from my camera! I have enough pictures to get me through the next few weeks...

I like lighthouses too! I like the way you set up this shot.

And I'm with Melody: you can't share too many lighthouses!

Beth - I've got two more on my camera before I run out! Hopefully my @#$!& computer will be back up and running within 2 weeks!

Isn't it amazing that this structure is so well-loved? My dad is from Cape Cod and has so many childhood stories about lighthouses.

I've always loved lighthouses. They were so many around when I was young that are gone now. At least they've got the sense to keep up those that are left. Great shot.

Sandra - thanks for stopping by! I love lighthouses too. My heart is always touched when we stumble across one that has been lovingly restored. Look for more lighthouses in weeks to come!
