Pictured above is the lighthouse in St. Augustine Florida. This is a pretty famous one, known for those black and white stripes. Although the grounds and archaeological collections aren't as expansive as Ponce Inlet, it is better than most. You can climb up this one, and see all the wonderful structures over the bridge that historical St. Augustine has to offer.

Beautiful! Love the stripes!
Nice shot -- look at that sky!
The only lighthouses I'm familiar with are in Michigan. This is very striking with its stripes, and I loved the blue sky which I haven't seen here since maybe, October?
Great photo. The stripes make it look so cool.
I just got a very similar pic from my parents ... they were in St. Augustine last weekend. Climbed the lighthouse (my mother appreciated the wide landings with benches!), and visited a college that used to be a hotel. The name escapes me (Fowler?), but it had gorgeous architecture and detailing!
gosh, I just happened to post about this lighthouse on my blog today.
it must be cosmic synergy!
Do they dress it up all festive like a candy cane for X-Mas?
Dawn - yes, that is Flagler College. They don't let you wander into the college, but it is architechturally beautiful. One time, the kids and I snuck into a tour for potential college applicants and their parents, but we were soon discovered. We just played dumb. But at least we got to see a couple of cool things!
Caite - Just bizarre! We must have a similar eye for taking pictures!
Bumbles - I have no idea, as I've never been up there around the holidays, but it is a good idea!
