Another Challenge Completed

I only had four books to read between April and October for the Classics Challenge...who would have imagined it would have taken me six months? What have I been doing, anyway? Still, I'm feeling pretty confident that I will achieve all of my challenge goals except for one (Outlander). Never mind that to complete the Outlander challenge, I would have had to listen to almost 250 discs! I'll be doing good to get them finished by the end of the year!

Here are the books I read for the Classics Challenge, and their reviews:

Gone With the Wind - Margaret Mitchell: This was the mama of all books, so I decided to post on my progress each week to make myself feel productive!

Week 1 Post
Final Post

Brideshead Revisited - Evelyn Waugh (audio)

Persuasion - Jane Austen

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier: I am currently doing a read-along for this one (discussion on the first half of the book on October 8th, and discussion on the last half of the book on October 15). Stay tuned!

So I'm wondering...since I've finished another challenge, does that mean I get to join a new one?

Definitely join a new one, Sandy!

Well done and congratulations on the completion!

I'm going to start on reading REBECCA now. I'm late but will try to catch up. :)

Congratulations on finishing the challenge! I'm not sure about starting a new one - depends on how your others are going - i have far too many!

Congratulations on a job well done! I'm always impressed when someone finishes a challenge since I'm so miserable at them.

Congratulations! It's taken me almost the entire six months, too. I'll be finishing up the last book this week (The Woman in White). Your rationalization for joining another challenge makes me laugh - especially since I was thinking the same thing this morning!

Wow, you are doing well with completing your challenges. I have a bad habit of signing up for them and then not completing them for one reason or another. However, I am happy to report that I AM reading Rebecca and will be ready on October 8th!

I haven't read Gone With The Wind in thirty years, but I loved it! I also love, love, love Rebecca. Ironically enough, a friend of mine loaned me both of those when I was in seventh grade, and they are so clear in my mind even now. I could read Rebecca every year, I think, it's such a marvelous book! Congratulations on completing the challenge; I love classics~

Congratulations, Sandy, on completing the challenge! I signed up for this one but didn't manage to read even one book for it. Oh well. My intentions were good when I started. It just isn't my year for classics I guess.

Alice - yeah, that is sort of the way I feel! I will be keeping my eyes open for some more!

Jackie - I think if the right one comes along, I'll jump on it. I was very cautious going into this year, since I was new and didn't want to overcommit!

Kathy - I drive myself crazy with my need to finish them all. The Outlander one haunts me.

Caite - yes! That is weird! We need to bully you into one or two!

Joann - with this challenge, I just took my eye off the ball, focusing all of my attention on my other challenges. It was good for me though. I'm totally inept at the classics.

Kathleen - yay! I can't wait to see what you have to say!

Bellezza - Oh I know, I could see this one as a solid re-read. Talk about atmosphere!

Wendy - yeah, but aren't you signed up for a couple of dozen challenges? Good thing we aren't punished for non-completion!

Good for you!! Woo hoo!

And I don't think anyone can fault you for not finishing the Outlander challenge! You have a life you know!

Congratulations on another "mission accomplished"! The number of challenges you have joined inspires awe. If it were me, I'd want to catch my breath a little. But you seem to thrive on goal setting. Do what's best and most comfortable for you--and enjoy it!

I just started reading your blog during BBAW so I didn't know about your GWTW read earlier this year. I had to go back and check out your posts as soon as I saw it though! I read GWTW this summer and enjoyed it thoroughly - glad to find another fan. :)

LOL Yes, you get to join a new one! It's addictive, isn't it?

Congratulations on finishing the Classics Challenge! I have only 15 more pages to go of The Grapes of Wrath and then there are still two more books to finish: The Pillowbook and The Chosen -- both pretty thick... But I'm having fun ;) The hard part is that I also still need to blog about all the others! Among which... Brideshead Revisited :)

Here's my sign-up post for the CC, if you want to take a look at my list.
