that was a terrible storm and the Keys had to a terrible place to be during it.
Hurricanes are a scary part of life in South Mississippi living right above the Gulf of Mexico...I still dive under the covers when the wind starts blowing too hard :(
I've visited so many memorials lately -- can't imagine how scary it would be on the Keys during a hurricane.
I have been to the keys many times, but have never seen this memorial. I am going to have to look at it the next time I am there. I also lived through a rather big hurricane in 92, and it was one of the most scary experiences of my life!
My heart breaks to think of all the heartache these storms cause.
I imagine a hurricane on the Keys back then would have been horrible to live through.
Somehow I've never heard of this hurricane. That's of the reasons I love monuments/plaques so much, you learn stuff everywhere you go!
I have not experienced any storms beyond seeing some rooftop flying off, but I can imagine how scary.
