Sunday Salon: Back to Business

Hey all!  I am moving a little late again this morning...it is so hard to get motivated these days.  And after about a month of being away from home, reality has very rudely smacked me upside the head.  It wasn't unexpected, but it doesn't make it any less painful.

As soon as we landed back in Orlando this past Tuesday, we've been on the move and this will continue through next week.  Shopping for school supplies, shoes, football gear, school uniforms, dry cleaning, and even groceries.  Dentist appointments, physicals, hair cuts, doctor appointments...all to be squeezed into this two week period before school starts.  Plus daily football practices started Thursday, and daily Cross Country tryouts start next Monday (at 5:30am).  There is also a very dirty house, a pool on the edge of green, and a back yard overgrown with weeds.  The cherry on top is all the lovely summer assignments that still have not been completed!  GET THESE KIDS BACK IN SCHOOL!  Good Lord.

I've written no reviews, and am attempting to scrounge a few minutes here and there to visit you online.  Very little reading is happening, but I am trying so hard to get time with "Night Film", which so far I love with all my soul.  What an awesome read!  I'm still listening to "This Town" on audio (going on three weeks!) and I'm starting to get twitchy.  It is a good listen, but I have a few reservations that is making me want it to be over at this point.  I have some reading commitments creeping up on me and I need to move on, but life should resume a routine in the next week and a half.

After church today, my daughter and I will resume our animal shelter duties, and then I'm hoping to steal an hour or two of hanging at the pool and doing some reading.  With all my bitching, I must say that I AM glad I am home!  What are you all up to these days?  Are you still in summer mode or are you getting ramped up for normalcy to return?

I'm so glad you're enjoying Night Film. I think it is tailor-made for a noir-cult-film lover like you!

I am crazy busy too! I've been trying to write a review for the last 3 or 4 days and just can't find the time. Who knew this beer store would keep me so busy?

I have been sadly busy since I returned home from holidays two weeks ago, even without children who are out of school. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying being home again though :)

The last couple weeks before school starts are SO crazy... I really don't miss being on that time table.

Getting the twins ready for college is top priority right now. Twin A will move into an off campus apartment at the end of the month. Then we can get back to a normal schedule around here.. whatever that might be!

I do miss our school year routine a bit, but I'm glad we still have a month, as I still have some lesson planning and notebook assembling to get done. Your schedule sounds crazy - hang in there!

It is so hard to get back to "reality" after vacation isn't it? Hope you have had a wonderful day by the pool with your books! My reading is going at a snail's pace. Don't know what is up with that!

I'm running around buying school stuff for the children too. Yesterday my boys went off to the in-laws for a week so I'm hoping for lots of uninterupted reading time so I can catch up on the books & the blog. Hope you find some free time too!

I've had both the girls home this week from summer internships and summer fun. They were running to Dr and Dentist and we,shopped some too. Tomorrow we road trip it with 2 cars to Buffalo NY to take Adrienne to her new college. I hope I'm not an emotional mess!!

I can't believe it's already back to school time. The kids here start at the end of August. I've been mostly listening to audio books which has been going well. Our weather this summer has been crappy so that isn't the best. Oh well at least there isn't any snow. Lol. Glad you're back even though you're going to be busy, busy, busy.

The CIA book you reviewed a while back? My husband is listening to the audio and loving it! Thanks for the recommendation :)
