Not So Wordless Wednesday: New York #1
Right around the beginning of December last year, my husband and I took a quick trip up to New York for a business meeting. Hubby goes every year, and I usually stay home with the kids, but this year I got the treat of going. Everything was completely decked out for the holidays, including the lobby of our hotel. As we were checking in, various chefs from around the city were scurrying around setting up their individually-designed gingerbread houses.
Ahem...these don't look anything like the ones my daughter and I make.
The top photo is an Aztec temple. The second one is that NYC building under construction and the crane that almost toppled as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The third appears to be an Asian temple of some kind. I guess it gives us all something to aspire to!

I want to experience New York during the holidays!
Wow! I wouldn't want to eat those - far too beautiful! Good job the ones I make aren't up to that standard - I'm happy to cut them up ;-)
These are amazing - nothing at all like the ones I've constructed with my little ones in the past. I'm with Kathy - I want to experience New York during the holidays, too!
Wow, incredible that these are gingerbread houses!
For a moment, I thought these were chocolate, and I was amazed! I have a finny story about gingerbread houses. This year was our first year building one, and it came out so cute. It was a kit, but still, it was cute. Well, when we got up in the morning it was gone! We looked around, and found some very guilty dogs that had snatched it from the table and went to town. It was maddening then, but it's funny now.
How fun! I would be afraid to eat any of them--of course, I doubt they are meant to be eaten. Or are they? They look like art.
must be a hotel thing...the Ritz Carlton in DC had the Pentagon in gingerbread..
Wow, I think that beats the exhibit we saw in Chicago!
Awesome! Nothing like my poor efforts.
Wow. Always over the top in the Big Apple. Incredible craft--thanks for sharing!
