Not So Wordless Wednesay: Wroclaw #1

I am always amazed at how I've been traveling to Wroclaw, Poland, with my husband since 1992, and we still find things I have not seen.  On this trip, we visited a number of architectural wonders hidden within the University of Wroclaw, including this Jesuitical church built in 1689.  You would never know what was about to hit you in the face from the outside, but you step in, and you are immediately awash with all of the Late Baroque intensity.  I found it humorous to hear, during the tour, that the Jesuits actually ran out of money while building this church, and were disappointed that they had to scale back!?  As it stands, it is sensory overload.

Wow, now that's a church! But I have to admit I don't think I'd pay any attention to a service in there, I'd be so busy gawking!

Wow, that is amazing! I wonder how long it took to do all of that work.

Had to scale back?! Imagine what it would have looked like had it been a no-holds-barred construction seen! Very cool.

Baroque is not my favorite..I would not want to look at it every day...but it certainly is something to see.

That is funny that they were disappointed they couldn't add more! It does look ornate!

Oh wow! This is just beautiful and it is something that I bet was just so much better in person! And like the others, I can't imagine what it would have looked like if they had not had to scale back!

I can't imagine what they would have done if they had more money ha! I always enjoy these churches and chapels in Europe. Even when they are over done they are so beautiful and interesting to visit.

That is sensory overload, they sure don't build em' like that anymore! I've yet to go to Europe, how nice to have the connection with your husband and his family, sounds like you go often:) Happy WW!

I've seen a few churches that seemed so over-the-top. They are still so impressive, but I tend to like the ones with a bit less gold and bling.

That's scaled back? I wonder what it would have looked like if they had an unlimited budget?!?
