Not So Wordless Wednesday: Sopot #2

Like I said last week, one of the most popular attractions in Sopot Poland is The Grand Hotel (see picture below, photo taken from wapedia.mobi).  The hotel was built in 1927, and has been visited by worldwide dignitaries and royalty.  While I haven't stayed at this hotel, my husband has, and he stayed in a room that had been occupied by Hitler.  (Not sure if that is a good thing...seems it should have been exorcised first.)  My photo today was taken in the foyer, looking up through its spiral staircase.

Ew, I'm with you about that room. I'm not sure I could have stayed in it.

Goodness, sounds like an invitation to see something not many others would consider - I think I would be in.
Nice blog and images too!

That spiral staircase shot kind of made me dizzy. Bet it would be worse in person. And, no, I would not like to stay in a room that had been occupied by Hitler.

Hitler associations aside, it sounds like a beautiful place!

Did you get to stay there?

On our first trip to Berlin we got to stay in what was then the Berlin Hyatt. We got a cheap rate because the wall had just come down a few years earlier and they were still trying to get tourists to visit and stay in the former Eastern section.

Our German friend told us that is was the best hotel in Berlin. It was wonderful, too, we were impressed but had no idea it was the best in Berlin.

It did have a stupendous breakfast buffet, even for Germany where breakfast buffet lovers go instead of heaven.

That is an amazing picture! At first I wasn't exactly sure what it was, but after reading your text, I totally get it. I agree with Kathy. I probably couldn't have stayed in that room either.

Hmm...not sure if I'd stay in that room but I've to say that's a great perspective from that pic!

That's so interesting. At first, I couldn't really place that it was a staircase!

The hotel looks so cool but I would not have stayed in that room. Too much bad karma there.
