But I have a running book to recommend. :) It's not a training book, but more of a travel memoir (one of my favorite genres) with some running thrown in.

http://www.amazon.com/Running-Kenyans-Passion-Adventure-Secrets/dp/0345528794Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06474584473012742915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4124681312732868654.post-60556651041256909132012-11-08T13:38:56.289-05:002012-11-08T13:38:56.289-05:00Have you ever read Born To Run? My body hurts when I run. This was the case when I was younger too. I don't know if that has to do with the lupus I had way back when, or what but I've never been able to run.

BUT, I am the lumpy person you described and lately, since the hand injury, have given up. I know when things slow down a bit (after the holidays) I might feel differently but right now, I feel like a loser and hopeless at that. I had never run a mile in my life and was convinced I couldn't do it. So I put off taking the class each year until my senior year. (The story about what happened when I finally did take the class I will save for another time.)

This is funny to me now because I run about 3.5 miles a day. I am living proof that ANYONE with the willpower to do so and decent health can be a runner.

Thanks for sharing these books-- I will be checking them out! I have never been a runner, outside of organized sports, and it has always been my fitness bane. No matter how in shape I get from other sources, I am never able to start running. Perhaps a book or two about running would be a good idea, I am sure my shoes are incorrect, I don't eat and drink at the proper times and so on... I have to tell you, I'm kind of thinking about you. You make it sound possible and plausible and possibly even doable. I'll think about it. I would have to start with the "out of shape frump" book and go from there. I've always wanted to be a runner but never wanted to do anything about it. You're inspiring me! Excellent job!!
